Debbie, You provided an absolutely spot-on analysis of this issue. In my opinion, it would be ideal for those positions where a video is requested, such as sales, or public relations....in a job where face-to-face communication with clients will be part of the job duties.

But, I definitely agree with your concerns. As a former hiring manager, I had to keep EEOC issues (ie, gender and race), plus age-discrimination out of my thoughts as I considered a candidate, because legally, we need to hire the person that is best suited for the job, and not base it on issues related to protected status.

The other factor, is the download time to load the video. In an office with a lot of Internet activity and band width issues, a video can take minutes to download, which will not go over well with a busy hiring manager.

Yes, traveling is getting more and more difficult. After you've rushed to the airport, finally found a parking spot, deposited your bags, removed your shoes, and made it through security, there's plenty more surprises awaiting you. I feel for you having to sprint to your connecting flight--been there done that.
But, the worst is coming. My local airports are about to install the screening scan that renders you virtually naked. Besides the obvious embarrassment, I'm well over fifty and it ain't a pretty sight. What will they think of next?!

Great idea! Someone should do that. I live in the Atlanta area and use that airport the whole time. Never give yourself only 35 minutes there. It can be too far between gates. Good luck with the idea--sounds like a business opp to me.

Well Debbie, you must admit that there is also a fitness bonus to travel. I am surprised that sneaker and running shoe companies do not take advantage of the use of these situations in commercials. I also think you should be considered for a baby boomer commercial showcasing how you are able to make those connections.

Thank you for your comments Eileen, Pam and Pat. I agree, she was beautiful. She had the most amazing commanding eyes. I just finished another call with Marti earlier this afternoon. This is our second call and it was as riviting as the first call. Plus, the book (finished it today) really lends credibility that this case should, without a doubt, be re-opened.

This is a fascinating post! I had no idea there was a book written about Natalie Wood's death, nor had I even considered there was anyone else on board the boat the night she drowned. I do, however, remember how shocked I was when I learned of her passing.

At the time, she'd been all over TV in Rain Tree commercials (if I remember correctly, Rain Tree was a type of skin lotion). After her death, they were immediately taken off the air. It was as if she totally disappeared in the blink of an eye.

Such a beautiful woman and such a shocking death--I can't wait to listen to your radio show. I'm certain it will be fascinating, too!

I applaud you and the other wise girls for addressing this critically important topic. Although it's not an easy subject to discuss, or even understand, it's vital that we take a look at the rising tide of gang violence in our country.
Why is our culture especially prone to violence in these ways? Lots of other countries experience the same social issues but they don't have the same level of violence as we do here. It's been a question that's plagued me for years--I'll be listening!

What a great story of Christmas cheer with a wagging tail. You were wonderful to care for Big Dog and make sure he was delivered to where his owner could find him.
Years ago, long before microchips, our beloved family dog went missing for about a week. When we finally found him, we were all overjoyed--especially my 6 year old daughter. Dogs become such a part of the family that this kind of reunion is priceless!

I love and hate dreams. Sometimes I dream about a person and see or talk to them that day. Disturbing dreams I pray about right away, giving them to the Lord and off my mind.
But I try to listen to messages that may sometimes be coming from my subconscious and other times from the Lord. Way beyond me, that is for sure.
